Train to recognize fast, forceful bagging and adjust your squeeze to the airway and lung condition.
Sotair® gives immediate feedback when you squeeze a BVM too fast or too forcefully, helping you to slow down, correct your technique, and deliver more controlled breaths based on the airway and lung condition.
Built for adult BVM training, simulation, and education, the Sotair® Adult Training Device teaches flow control by feel without screens, dials, or added cognitive load.
- Immediate tactile, audible, and visual feedback
- Compatible with standard adult BVMs and airway accessories
- Basic use can be taught in about 30 seconds
- Includes access to a live 1-hour CAPCE-accredited workshop
- Training device only.
Used by over 170 EMS, Fire, military, and clinical educators
The Sotair® Series is SafeBVM’s award-winning manual ventilation platform, supported by funding from the American Heart Association (AHA), National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Science Foundation (NSF), United States Department of Defense (DoD).
Everyone knows not to bag too fast or too hard. But under stress, hands speed up.
Manual ventilation is simple in theory, but difficult under pressure. Providers must manage rate, squeeze force, delivered volume, airway resistance, lung compliance, mask seal, and timing — all during an emergency.
Fast, forceful bagging can increase pressure causing gastric insufflation or lung injury, worsen mask seal or airway leak, and may deliver excessive tidal volumes. The problem is that it can be difficult to recognize until it is already happening.
Sotair® helps make fast, forceful bagging something providers can feel and fix immediately
Learn and teach flow control by feel.
The Sotair® Adult Training Device gives you immediate feedback when you squeeze too fast or too forcefully. You will feel the resistance, hear the cue, see the valve response, and adjust.
That feedback loop helps build better BVM habits before you are under pressure in the field.
Learn Sotair® in 30 seconds.
Squeeze the bag fast and forcefully. Sotair's alarm is tactile, audible, and visible: the bag will feel rigid, you may hear the valve collapse, and you will see the valve close.
If the alarm triggers, stop squeezing and release the bag. Do not continue squeezing once the alarm is activated.
Try again with a slower, more controlled squeeze. If Sotair keeps triggering, slow your squeeze down further until the alarm no longer activates.
Aim for a smooth squeeze over about 1 second, near Sotair's alarm threshold, while avoiding repeated alarm activation.
